Howdy parents!

Planning for the year-end auction fundraiser is well underway, but we really need your help. We need:

† Parents to solicit donations for our fundraiser auction. This can be as simple as taking a letter with you when you go to your neighborhood grocery store, or recruiting friends for a coffee morning walk-and-talk while blanket-canvassing businesses in a specific neighborhood. Maybe you know someone who is personally willing to make a donation? Maybe you can make a donation yourself? No donation is too small. The best auction items are those that have a broad appeal – like gift cards/certificates – or items that best represent what the donor business has to offer … art classes, martial arts classes, beautiful and unique giftware, outstanding service, etc.

† Parents to assist with the class craft creation. Each class creates one item for the auction and this requires a group of parents to volunteer their time and creativity to help the children create it. You don’t have to be ‘crafty’!! Most times the children just require supervision and assistance to make their masterpieces - all you have to do is offer assistance to them when needed!

A Message from the PFG

Giddy-Up Cowboys and Cowgirls!

SAVE THE DATE MAY 12, 2012

The date for the annual fundraiser, dinner dance and auction, has changed to May 12, 2012 and it is fast approaching. We need your help!!

In order to accomplish our goal we need your help in securing product and service donations for both the silent and live auctions. Can you personally donate goods and/or services? Who do you know who could help? Perhaps you feel comfortable calling those who have donated in the past?

Letters, on CCS letterhead and signed by Principal Jason Borkowski, are available at the office for pick up. These serve as official donation confirmations and may be used for tax purposes. Please have all product and service donations delivered directly to the school office by April 6, 2012.

The monies raised will be used to further enhance the technology in our classrooms. Additional equipment required to complete this year’s mission includes:

SMART Boards for each classroom. - SMART Board interactive whiteboards improve learning outcomes! Combining the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer, the SMART Board delivers dynamic lessons, writes notes in digital ink, and saves the work – all with the simple touch of a finger.

iPads and Netbooks have been purchased so that students of all needs and abilities can access technology in meaningful ways and assist them in developing to their fullest potential.

Desktop workstations, software and technology aids for our children. The world is digital and it is imperative we prepare them for the future as best as we can.

We operate our school on approximately 70% of the budget of a public school. This is accomplished thanks to the commitment of our parish, faculty, students, community – and you – our parent and family volunteers and donors!

Craft coordinators are also needed to help each class design and complete their work for the live auction. Please contact your classroom PFG representative for more information. Contact details can be found on your classroom blog.

The next PFG meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 8th at 7pm in the school library. Meetings are open to all parents.

We are still looking for at least one parent rep. for Grades 1 and 5. If you are interested in getting involved or would like more information please email fundraising@ccsunited.ca.

PFG Volunteers still needed!

Thank you to the parents who attended the information session on Friday evening. Unfortunately, that was only four of you! Obviously this means that the school is now in desperate need of some volunteers willing to be involved in the fundraising program.

Currently we are still in need of Parent Reps for the following classes:

Grade 1 x 2 parents;

Grade 2 x 2 parents;

Grade 3 x 1 parent;

Grade 3/4 x 2 parents;

Grade 4 X 1 parent;

Grade 5 x 2 parents;

Grade 6 x 2 parents;

Grade 7 x 1 parent.

We also still need to put together the PFG executive, as the only positions currently filled are Chair, and Returning Officer. The PFG structure can be found on this blog. Please read through it as it will give you an idea of what is expected of parents in each of the roles..

Alternatively, if you would like to be involved in the fundraising program but don't wish to be a Parent Rep. we are also looking for 8 people to make up the Spring Fundraiser (Auction Night) Committee, 4 people to make up the School Grocery Certificate Sales Committee, 2 people to coordinate the Outdoor Ed. fundraising for the Gr. 6 class, and 4 people to take on coordinating other fundraisers that may present themselves throughout the year.
